J&K Police arrest ‘hybrid’ militant in Mahore

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested a “hybrid” militant in Reasi district and claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition at his instance. 

Identifying the arrested militant as Zaffar Iqbal of Angrala in Mahore tehsil, police said that a “major tragedy has been averted” following his apprehension.

The seized arms and ammunition included one pistol with damaged hand grip, four pistol magazine including two damaged ones and 22 rounds, one hand grenade.

The police also seized from him Rs 1.81 lakh in cash which he had received from his terror handlers to use in terror activities in the area.

Zaffar’s brother Mohammad Ishaq was also a militant owing allegiance to Lashkar-e-Toiba of LET and he was  killed in an encounter with security forces in Rajouri district. His another relative Abdul Rashid of Ladh village in Mahore tehsil, is in Pakistan and he is working with terror groups there, police said.
