Indian Army soldiers gave their own blood to save an injured fidayeen captured in Nowahera sector

JAMMU, AUGUST 24: The Indian Army soldiers in a rare gesture of humanity gave their own blood to save the life of a captured fidayeen who had crossed the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border Rajouri district to kill them on August 21 morning.

Identified as Tabrak Hussain of Sabzkot village in Kotli district of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, he was shot at and captured in an injured condition by the alert Amy troops in Nowshera sector.

“He had bled out due to 2 bullet wounds in his thigh & shoulder, was critical,” Brigadier Rajeev Nair, Commandant of the Army Hospital at Rajouri told media persons. 

“Members of our team gave him three bottles of blood, operated him & put him in the ICU,” he said, adding that he is stable now, but will take a few weeks to improve.

Giving details, Brigadier Kapil Rana, Commander Nowshera Brigade, said that on August 21 morning, alert soldiers deployed in Jhangar sector of Nowshera spotted movement of two to three terrorists on Indian side of the Line ofControl. 

One terrorist who came close to the Indian post and tried cutting the fence, tried to flee on being challenged by the troops. However, he was brought down by effective fire, incapacitating him. 

Two terrorists who were hiding behind, fled the area by taking cover of dense jungle and broken ground. The injured Pakistani terrorist was captured alive and provided with immediate medical aid and life saving 

surgery was carried out, he added.

During preliminary questioning, Tabarak Hussain stated that, he was sent by a Colonel of Pakistan Intelligence Agency named Col Yunus Chaudhry who had paid him Rs 30,000 in Pakistani currency. 

The captured militant also revealed that he along with other terrorists had carried two/three close recces of Indian forward posts with an aim to target them at an opportune time. The go ahead to target the Indian post was given by Col Yunus Chaudhry on August 21. 

Incidentally, he was earlier also captured by Indian Army from the same sector in 2016 along with his brother Haroon Ali, and was repatriated on humanitarian grounds in November 2017 on humanitarian grounds, he added.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by defence PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand here said that Tabarak, son of Mistri Malik resident of Sabzkot in Kotli district of Pakistan occupied Kashmir along with his younger brother Haron Ali was earlier apprehended by security forces in Jhangar area of Nowshera sector on April 25, 2016. The former was then 26 and the latter 15.

Tabarak Hussain was cultivated by Pak Army (likely ISI) and he worked for Intelligence Unit for approximately two years, he said.

During this period he was trained to acquire enemy information and establishing cover story in case the individual is ever apprehended, it said, adding that in addition, he underwent six weeks training as a guide at Lashar-E-Toiba training camp across the LoC at Bhimber. 

On 25 Apr 2016, Tabarak Hussain and Haroon Ali were launched with a group of three militants from Kaldio, Sabzkot. The three terrorists, Mohammad Kafil, Mohammad Ali and Yasin, were carrying war like stores and they had planned to plant an IED on operational track near forward posts used by Indian army. 

After their apprehension by the security forces, both Tabarak and Haroon Ali following a court order underwent nearly 26 months prison sentence before being repatriated to Pakistan via Attari-Wagah border, Amritsar. 

On 16 Dec 2019, Tabarak’s younger brother Mohammad Sayeed was apprehended by Indian army in  same Sher-Makri area, the Defence PRO said, adding he was found to be under heavy influence of drugs at the time of his apprehension in an injured condition on Sunday morning.

The individual confirmed repatriation of his brothers. Present whereabouts of individual are being ascertained, he said.

At the time of his apprehension, injured Tabarak Husain was shouting, “mai marne ke liye aaya tha, mujhe dhoka de diya” (I had come to kill, I have been cheated). “Bhaijaan mujhe yahan se nikalo” as if calling to people to rescue him, Lt Colonel Anand said.
