SONAMARG (J&K) | Work for installation of tents in Baltal base camp for Shri Amarnath pilgrims nears end with final touches as 1st batch of Amarnath pilgrims leaves Bhagwati Nagar-base camp in Jammu. The annual pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine in Kashmir commences tomorrow

The 43-day Shri Amarnath Yatra will officially begin on June 30 and close on August 11. The yatra had remained closed for past two years due to the onset of coronavirus pandemic.

Baltal holds about 1200 tents already. Numbers are now being increased by 500 with help of army, district administration & shrine board. Each of these tents can house 10 people. This generates a lot of employment opportunities for locals: Camp Director NS Jamwal
