PDP youth leader Waheed Parra walks out of jail after 2 years

SRINAHAR, MAY 25: Nearly two years after his arrest by the National Investigation Agency, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Wednesday granted bail to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing head Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra who was in jail for almost two years.

Parra’s counsel, Sahriq Reyaz, in a tweet confirmed the granting of bail to PDP member. “Waheed Parra granted bail by HC. Order of trial court set aside. had the onerous duty to lead his defence and argue his bail appeal. Waheed walks out after more than a year in custody,” Reyaz Tweeted.

The former JK Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Finally after almost two years, Waheed Para gets bail & I hope he walks out as a free man soon. Would like to thank his lawyer Shariq for fighting his case with such conviction & determination’’.

Nearly two years after his arrest by the NIA on charges of alleged terror links, PDP youth wing leader Waheed Ur Rehman Para was Wednesday granted bail by High Court.

Para was arrested by the NIA on November 25, 2020 three days after he had filed nomination papers from Pulwama for the maiden District Development Council elections in J&K. He had won while in custody.
