Two held as J&K Police rescue 31 bovine animals
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 19: Acting tough against bovine smuggling, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued 31 bovine animals at two different places in Jammu district on Saturday.
Giving details, sources said that the police rescued 27 bovine animals at Suketar near Jhajjar Kotli from seven different vehicles which were stopped at a naka there. Four bovine animals were rescued from a vehicle by police at a naka near Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota.
Two people arrested in this connection have been identified as Ghulam Murtza of Jammu district’s Sidhra area and Anzir Ali of Anantnag district’s Kukar Nag area.
The arrests and recoveries were made by SHOs of Jhajjar Kotli and Nagrota Police Stations, Inspector Devinder Singh and Inspector Vishav Pratap Singh, respectively under the overall supervision of
SDPO Nagrota, Pardeep Kumar.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
Jammu District Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to curb the bovine smuggling menace. It sought support from the people to share information about bovine smuggling with the police for timely intervention for the cause.
