ACB arrests XEN Rural Development Deptt with Rs 4,000 graft money in Ramban

JAMMU, DECEMBER. 23: The Anti Corruption Bureau on Thursday caught red handed an Executive Engineer of the Rural Development Department for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a person for releasing his payments for the works done under MGNREGA in Ramban district.

Sources said that complainant had filed a complaint that XEN Madan Lal was demanding Rs 5,000 for releasing his payments.

Following complaint, a discreet verification was conducted by Anti Corruption Bureau and on the basis of findings of the Enquiry Officer, prima facie, offences u/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018) was found made out against the alleged accused person Madan Lal, Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department, District Ramban. Accordingly, case FIR was registered u/s 7 of the PC Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).

During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted, which laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Madan Lal Chadgal, Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department, District Ramban while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant in his file. 

The accused was arrested on the spot by ACB team. Later, searches were also conducted at the premises/residence of the accused.
