NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 5: To curb terror in Jammu and Kashmir, the newly formed Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) will operate outside the Union Territory also by initiating pre-emptive actions in association with the Punjab Police in the neighbouring state.
It ambit has been expanded beyond the UT as the Group comprising officials of the police, CRPF and Central intelligence and other agencies has been very effective in neutralising terrorists in the Valley, sources said. Based on accurate information, it has successfully led decisive operations against terrorists within a few kilometres of the Indo-Pak border.
TMG, which was formed last month after a spate of civilian killings in Jammu and Kashmir, in coordination with Punjab Police aims to nab overground workers of terrorist outfits before they enter the Union Territory as the recent investigations by Central investigation agencies and state police, have found that arms and funds for terror networks in J&K are coming from across the international border through Punjab, sources said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent three day visit to J&K had directed the security agencies to take all possible action to wipe out terrorism from the Valley.
