Katra: In view of forthcoming Navratri festival and visit of pilgrims at Shri Mata Vaishino Devi Shrine at Katra, Mohd Suleman Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range conducted security review meeting here on Monday.
Meeting was attended by SSP Reasi Shailender Singh, Commandant CRPF, ASP Katra, besides officers from Army, Railway and intelligence agencies.
At the meeting SSP Reasi presented a detailed security grid in place for Katra town, discussed various security measures going to be placed in view of Navratri Festival, enroute and the SMVD Shrine.
DIG highlighted that the major challenge for the security forces in coming days is to manage fool proof protective bandobast for Navratri festival at SMVD Shrine in Trikuta Hills and at Katra town.
Suleman Choudhary reviewed each and every security drill of the Shrine, yatra enroute, safety and security of pilgrims visiting to pay obeisance to the Shrine on daily basis and huge volume of visitors during the festival & the observance of COVID Appropriate Behavior of the moving pilgrims.
Deputy Inspector General of Police also directed to conduct joint security drill with CAPF for security of the shrine and mentioned it as top priority of police of this jurisdiction.
Suleman Choudhary further stressed upon frequent verification & census of migrants in and around Katra town.
Character antecedents of pony wallas, porters and other people entering the town should also be checked on priority required to segregate the suspicious elements.
Choudhary also directed to SSP to conduct checking of the hotels and other residential accommodations on regular basis for verification of character antecedents of the person visiting there.
Further directed all concerned officers to revisit the list of OGW’s of the Police Stations, monitoring of social media including Facebook, whatsapp to curb the new pattern of radicalization.
Meeting ended with the positive note on Coordination and Cooperation between all the security forces deployed for the security of the Shrine.
