Jammu: An Indian army boat on Monday evening swept over to Pakistan with Chenab waters from Jammu and Kashmir’s Pargwal area in Akhnoor.
Sources said that there were five army personnel on the boat on routine exercise near Hamirpur Kona village when it suddenly got caught in strong water currents of Chenab and started moving towards Pakistan. The personnel first tried to control the boat, but as it continuing moving towards Pakistan with water currents, they jumped into the river and swam to the shore.
Army officials rushed to the spot after they came to know about the incident. Sources said that Pakistan army has been informed by its Indian counterpart about their boat having flown across the border.
In August 2014, a BSF jawan had swept away to Pakistan in strong currents of Chenab after his motorboat got caught in strong water currents of the river flowing towards Pakistan. He was later repatriated following a flag meeting between the two sides.
