IED defused on Rajouri-Poonch highway

Poonch: The vehicular traffic on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway was suspended for nearly three hours on Saturday morning after security forces recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Rajouri- Poonch highway.  

Sources said that an information was received during early hours about some suspicious movement in the area between Bathuni and Dalogra villages. A joint search operation was immediately launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, they added.

During searches, an IED weighing about 3 kgs and concealed in a milk container was found on the road between Bathuni and Dalogra villages. Subsequent to the detection of the IED, the traffic was suspended and the IED defused.

Acase (FIR No. 514/2021) under section 3/4 of the Indian Explosives Act and 120B IPC at Police Station Rajouri and investigation initiated.
