Jammu: From Monday onward, Jammu division will witness moderate to heavy rains over the next three days as the lower and middle level tropospheric winds from Northern Arabian sea are most likely to interact with Easterly winds from Bay of Bengal from July 18-21, said meteorological department officials.

The system is most likely to cause widespread heavy to very heavy rains, thunder with lightening at most places of Jammu mainly in Pir Panjal range and plains of Jammu division from July 19-21.

There will, however, be moderate to heavy rain and thunder with lightening at many places in Kashmir during the period.

This is likely to cause moderate to high risk of flash floods, temporary disruption of surface transport mainly on Jammu-Srinagar, Srinagar-Leh, Doda-Kishtwar and Mughal Road during the period, apart from water logging and flash floods in low lying areas, and suspension of agriculture and horticulture operations, they added.
