MAJ GEN RANJAN MAHAJAN TAKES OVER AS ADG NCC DIRECTORATE JAMMU KASHMIR AND LADAKH

Jammu: Major General Ranjan Mahajan has taken over as Additional Director General of NCC Directorate Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.

Major General Mahajan is an alumni of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and was commissioned in Rajputana Rifles in December 1987. The General Officer has served in varied terrain and appointments, holds multiple military qualifications and also attended many prestigious courses. In his 34 years of distinguished service, the General officer has tenanted prestigious command and Staff assignments, including tenures in active operational areas.  He commanded the Battalion and an Infantry Brigade in Counter Insurgency Area of Northern Sector.  He was General Officer Commanding of a Division in Western Sector before taking over the present appointment.   For his illustrious career and devotion to the duty he was awarded Sena Medal in the year 2007.

The Officer assumes the appointment at a time when NCC is undergoing a paradigm shift in its focus where in youth from the Border Areas of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh are being enrolled into NCC under Border Area expansion scheme and youth of private Schools under Fully Self Financing Scheme.  Emphasis is also on imparting Air Force Training to the youth of the twin Union territories by raising an Air Squadron besides existing Army and Navy wings, ensuring maximum youth join Defence Forces by imparting SSB training in close liaison with the Army Units in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh and continuing training online despite COVID pandemic.
