Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to allow AIIMS begin classes in Government Medical College at Jammu.
Disclosing this at a high level meeting chaired by him here, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo said that he has approved and issued formal orders for starting of AIIMS classes in Government Medical College at Jammu. The GMC’s faculty guest house too has been temporarily allotted to AIIMS Vijaypur for establishment of office of Director AIIMS at Jammu, he added.
During the meeting, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department also discussed issues concerning establishment of AIIMS at Vijaypur in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.
These included construction of Motorable underpass, construction of river protection bund, shortage of river bed material, extension of metro services to AIIMS, Vijaypur (Jammu) when it comes to Jammu, accommodation for Faculty /Students of AIIMS Jammu, security arrangements for AIIMS Jammu, Electric Sub Stations ,Muncipal Water Supply, Provision of Bus Service from Jammu City to AIIMS Vijaypur, Upgradation of Vijaypur Railway station, Placement of Signage/Sign Boards by NHAI,,Joining of Approach Roads from AIIMS,Vijaypur (JAMMU) with National Highway,Masterplan/Town planning for development of Surrounding areas of AIIMS,Vijaypur.
All the issues were discussed and approved for implementation by the Concerned stake holders/Implementing agencies
Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department directed all the participating officers of line Departments to work in close coordination so that desired results are achieved in a time bound manner. He also informed that he will again review after a month about the progress
The Meeting in person was attended by Principal Secretary Housing Urban and Development,Principal Secreatary Public Works (R& B) Department,Inspector Genral of Police Jammu,Principal GMC JAMMU,Director Coordination,New Medical Colleges J and K,MD J&K Transport organisation ,MD PDD,,MD Tourism Development Corporation, DG Planning H&ME ,Chief Engineer CPWD AIIMS,Regional officer of NHAI, Through Video Confrance from respective Headquarters it was attended by Director AIIMS from Delhi ,,Commissioner Secretary to Govt ,Jal Shskti Department,CEO Mata Vaishno Devi Sharine Board,Additional Director Divisional Railway Jammu,Dy.Commissioner Samba besides other officers of Various Departments.
