Srinagar: Five militants including a newly recruited 14-year-old boy and two others responsible for the killing of an Army jawan were gunned down by police and security forces since Saturday night in Shopian and Bijbehara areas of Kashmir.Giving details, police said that two more militants including a 14-year old Faisal were killed in Shopian’s Hadipora area on Sunday morning. With this, the total number of militants killed in over night operation in the area rose to three as one militant was killed by police and security forces there on Saturday late evening.About Faisal’s killing, Inspectir General of Police Kashmir zone said that “police and security forces made sincere efforts to take surrender of newly recruited #terrorist. Parents also made appeals but other terrorists didn’t allow him to #surrender”.The identity of other two slain militants is yet to be ascertained, sources said, adding that two security forces personnel were also injured in the operation.One AK 47 rifle, one pistol among other things have been recovered so far.Meanwhile, two militants were killed in a joint operation by police and security forces in Bijbehara’s Semtham area of Anantnag district on Sunday morning. The slain militants were responsible for the killing of an army jawan two days ago, sources said, adding the searches are in progress in the area.With this, police and security forces have so far killed 34 militants in different operations across Kashmir Valley since the beginning of 2021.
