DDC Reasi compliments Fencers
Reasi: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib complemented the talented fencers of the district for their performance at the National level.
The DDC was interacting with those top fencers at the valedictory of the two-day XIVth Reasi District Open Fencing Championship which held at Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
Accompanied by the SSP Reasi, Rashmi Wazir, the DDC also appreciated the district fencing association for uninterrupted activities at the district level. Other prominent guests present included. Mukerjeet Sharma, president J&K Amateur Fencing Association; Dr Chander Shekhar, Principal Government Degree College, Reasi; President Municipal Committee, Reasi, Sudesh Puri; President Reasi District Fencing Association, Jagdish Kumar and Prof. Rajinder Kumar, joint secretary Reasi District Fencing Association as also Vikas Sharma.
The event was also graced by international fencer and member of the Khelo India Talent Identification, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, who briefed the guests about the fencing sport and Khelo India Schemes.
The competition officiated by the technical penal comprising Shotu Lal Sharma, Tariq Ahmed, Rajan Prashar, Vinod Kumar, Anoop Jyoti, Ravinder Kumar, and Rohit Panjgotra.
Earlier, Zorawar Fencing Club Reasi bagged the overall championship trophy considering the points earned out of the medals won in different events.
The Results: Senior Sabre Boys: Ajay Singh, Ist; Vikas Kumar, 2nd and Ashutosh, 3rd. Senior Epee Boys: Parvinder Sharma, Ist; Rohit Thakur, 2nd and Kamal Kumar, 3rd. Senior Foil Girls: Diksha Sharma, Ist; Deepika Thakur, 2nd and Aanshika Bandral, 3rd.
