Two army men killed in militant attack in Srinagar
Srinagar, November 26: Two security forces personnel were killed in a militant attack on Thursday near HMT area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
Identifying the deceased as Sepoy Ratan and Sepoy Deshmukh of Territorial Army, Srinagar based Army’s spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said militants fired indiscriminately at Quick Reaction Team of Indian Army in general area Aban Shah Chowk, HMT, Khushipora, Srinagar this afternoon. “Being a crowded area, troops exercised restraint to avoid any civilian causalities and collateral damage,” he said, adding, “two soldiers were critically injured and were evacuated to the nearest medical facility’’.
“However, they have succumbed to their injuries,’’ he said, adding the area has been cordoned and search operation is in progress.
Sepoy Rattan Singh hailed from Reasi district’s Mahore area. He is survived by his wife and three children, eldest among them his daughter.
