Jammu, November 26: A junior commissioner officer (JCO) of the army was killed and a civilian injured on Thursday in mortar shelling and small arms fire by Pakistan troops along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Identifying the deceased JCO as Subedar Swatantra Singh, sources said that he was critically injured when Pakistani troops initiated the ceasefire violation in Qasba and Kirni sectors around 1.30 pm. The army retaliated befittingly.
The injured JCO was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to injuries, sources said, adding that a civilian Mohammad Rashid was also injured in Pakistani shelling.
