Yatoo had left his secure place on his own after giving an undertaking; says police
Srinagar, October 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday seized a Maruti Alto car Telwani village near Achabal police post, saying that it was used by terrorists who killed three BJP workers including Kulgam district general secretary of party’s youth wing the previous night.
Pointing out that the seized car belonged to a local Altaf, Kashmir zone’s Inspector General of Police Vijay Kuumar told media persons that Lashkar-e-Tobia was behind the attack which appeared to be pre planned. He said that police investigations point towards the involvement of local militants including Nissar Ahmad Khandary and Abass Sheikh, besides a foreign terrorist.
Three BJP workers including party youth wing’s Kulgam district general secretary Fida Hussain Yatoo and Umer Ramzan Hajam, both of Y.K. Pora, besides Umer Rashid Beigh of Sophat Devsar were killed in attack by terrorists at Y.K. Pora Eidgah around 8.20 pm Thursday night. The last two were BJP workers.
To a question as what the BJP workers were doing there at that time, the IGP said Fida Hussain Yatoo who was one of the 1,619 people identified before August 5 this year and kept at secure places in Pahalgam on the basis of threat perception, had left the secure place on his own after giving an undertaking. The police are investigating as to what they were doing at such a far off place from their residence, he added.
Pointing out that 157 BJP workers have been provided PSOs and guards, the Kashmir zone police chief said those having threat perception would be provided more security. PSOs deployed with such people have been asked not to allow the protected to move during night at vulnerable places, he added.
