Night curfew re-imposed across Jammu district

Jammu, October 30: Administration on Friday re-imposed night curfew across Jammu district for a month with immediate effect.

An official statement issued here tonight said that “District Magistrate, Jammu, vide powers conferred upon under section 144 of CrPC read with relevant provisions under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005, restricts the movement of individuals for all non-essential activities between 10 pm to 5 am in the territorial limits of District Jammu from October 30 to November 30’’. “Any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005,’’ it added.

Meanwhile, UT administration has increased the upper ceiling on number of pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine from 7,000 to 15,000 per day with effect from November 1.
